I have been blessed with a tiny little bird visiting my backyard. House sparrows and a pair of blue jays are my main winter visitors. Sometimes white-winged doves stop by.
A kiss of red adorns this little bird’s head, as it hops quickly from branch to branch in my plum tree making it impossible to focus my camera on it in time. I have not heard this bird make a sound with its tiny beak.
There are two remarkable characteristics about this little bird with its kiss of red. One is that it has no fear. It is not flighty like house sparrows who go poof as soon as they see you. Two is its observation skills. With each stop on a branch, it tilts its head to and fro and all around observing every aspect of its surroundings of the plum tree before moving on to another branch. It does this several times before heading towards the suet cake. Then it pauses below the cake as if it is amazed that “this is all for me! “
It loves my variety of suets. Bird seed has gotten to be so expensive along with mealworms. I have found suet cakes at Tractor Supply to be a good option to feed birds.
My tiny blessed visitor is a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. A tiny green bird that was given a kiss of red.

That is a tiny bird, I’m not sure if one has ever come by my house, but I do have cardinals, sparrows, finches, and wrens. It’s so much fun to watch the birds.
